Description:
The Scenographia Campi Martii provides insight into Piranesi’s work, linking theatrical representation and scenic design through the veduta per angolo technique. This composition depicts ruins within a precise topography, erasing historical layers while contrasting history's negation and affirmation. Imagination reshapes space, blending timelines and creating an impossible palimpsest. The Campo Marzio plan reflects this vision, using rotated maps and aberration to transcend time and space. To understand it fully, the composition must be deconstructed, isolating elements—landscape, urban, and intangible—and reorganizing them into hierarchical systems. This juxtaposition of fact and fantasy reveals a bent reality, uniting order and imagination.
