Description:
SWEAT. is an independent passion project by students, realised alongside their regular curriculum. It aims to provide an affordable and accessible space to relax and experience the benefits of a sauna. It accommodates 6-8 people at a time, with an outdoor shower for a complete experience. The benches are designed and built together with volunteers.
Beyond promoting well-being, the project emphasizes sustainable and circular design, ensuring minimal environmental impact. The sauna is built using rented formwork modules from PERI, typically used in concrete casting, and polycarbonate panels from RODECA. The sauna is powered by a Harvia sauna oven, while International Plywood supplied B-stock plywood sheets.
Once the project ends, all main structural materials will be returned or recycled, ensuring a responsible lifecycle. The project has received enthusiastic support from Marcel Bilow & Bucky Lab, the TU Delft wood workshop, Mauro Overend from Building Technology, and Dean Dick van Gameren. The Green Village and X TU Delft played key roles in facilitating the team’s efforts and the sauna’s installation.
