Description:
Born from a Morocco-focused design project, the Oued Bouregreg Journal questions how human interventions have impacted the river Bouregreg and the perceptions of ‘her’. Instead of adopting a conventional Western idea of a ‘river’, the project embarks from the traditional Arab understanding of the oued or wadi, ودا /waː.din/, a place for water. This repositions the Bouregreg not just as a body of water but as a metaphysical entity – one shaped over centuries through carved-out vessels, symbiotic ecosystems and deep cultural connections. At its core, the Journal revives an Indigenous notion: ‘the water will come back’.
