Description:
The design process necessitated of a sensitive and analytical approach to the site’s natural dynamics, particularly the tidal patterns of the Verdronken Zwarte Polder. Using observational skills and experimental methods, including textile and wooden models, the project explored the relationship between environmental forces and human presence. Rather than creating a physical dike crossing, the intervention proposes a subtle visual and experiential connection through a linear sequence of five structures. These buildings—designed for research, observation, and framing views—balance permanence and transience, gradually evolving from functional spaces into landscape-integrated ruins. The project reflects a thoughtful architectural language rooted in restraint, adaptability, and deep engagement with the environment.
