Situated in Rotterdam’s Sluisjesdijk area, the Lab-Yard reimagines an existing heritage structure through expansion and sustainable reuse. The design celebrates openness, with interconnected public spaces that promote visibility, collaboration and interaction. Open garden space and shared areas create a flow between indoor and outdoor, fostering an environment where creativity and knowledge exchange thrive. Modular construction enables adaptability, ensuring the building’s functionality evolved with the future demands of Waalhaven.
