Description:
The thesis proposes the transformation of two of Madrid’s decorative fountains around the Segovia Bridge, into public pools, addressing the city’s residents’ needs for leisure and cooling. Additionally, the project enables public access to the Manzanares River—an element currently missing from the city center. The intervention reclaims water as a shared urban resource, while offering accessibility and public space next to the city’s forgotten river. A water management and research center and a wastewater treatment plant are added next to the Centre of Hydraulic Works. In this way, the water that is being treated and studied is later used for the pools and the irrigation of the site.
